DID YOU KNOW?

Vegan eating is on the rise! It’s even been confirmed by Google. It’s also been confirmed that overall, Americans are eating 12% less meat than we were just five years ago. That’s good news for our health, the planet, and animals.

Don’t Like to Cook? Dine Out!

Restaurants everywhere are dishing out delicious meat-free fare. Check out our popular dining guides for Washington, DC, Baltimore, and Los Angeles, as well as these tips:

  • Don’t see veg options on the menu? Just ask!
  • Indian, Ethiopian, and Mediterranean cuisines are rich with veggies, whole grains, and legumes.
  • In Mexican restaurants, ask for extra guacamole or salsa in place of cheese or sour cream.
  • Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese eateries often feature plant-based meats or tofu.
  • Many national chains offer animal-free foods - ask Subway to add a vegan option too!

Recipe: Teese Macaroni with Shredded Brussel Sprouts

Research shows that, despite what we’ve been told, drinking cow’s milk does not actually contribute to bone health. In fact, dairy can cause a host of ailments, from high cholesterol to cancer. The dairy industry also abuses cows for profit and directly supports the veal industry. Fortunately, we can enjoy milks and ice creams made from cholesterol- and cruelty-free soy, almond, rice, flax, hemp, and coconut, and creamy cheeses made from nuts and tapioca. This vegan version of classic macaroni and cheese is as animal-friendly as it is delicious.
