Councilmember Schultz has served on the Takoma Park City Council since 2009. He decided to run for office after retiring from a career of banking, ricocheting between local government service and work in the private sector. Schultz worked for the State of New Jersey in the planning office, for the City of Baltimore as a community planner in inner-city neighborhoods and in Arlington County, VA developing small business assistance programs and managing its public/private partnerships. He has led and volunteered for numerous community organizations, served on the Purple Line Master Plan Advisory Group and participated in the City’s Public Safety Citizens Advisory Committee before opting to run for election to the City Council.
