It’s easier than ever to enjoy delicious vegetarian cuisine in and around the nation’s capital! During VegWeek, you’ll find several special menus, discounts, and events encouraging everyone to join the celebration.
We’ve highlighted a few specials below, and you’ll find much more on our full listing of events and participating restaurants nationwide.
DC-Area Restaurant Highlights
- Bread & Brew: special menu including all vegan meatloaf sandwich and chicken parmesan
- Casa Oaxaca: all vegan Taco Tuesday, and new vegan menu items will be launched on Wednesday
- Cedar: three-course meal made with local/seasonal ingredients
- Founding Farmers: debuting a new meatless menu, including a Vegan Bacon Burger
- Red Velvet Cupcakery: free vegan (and gluten-free) cupcakes on Monday, April 22 (one per person)
- Restaurant Nora: all vegan tasting menu, items change daily
- Sprinkles: buy one vegan cupcake, get one free all week long
- Sticky Fingers Bakery: $1 from every “Compassion Cupcake” will be donated to Compassion Over Killing
- Union Jack’s: substitute vegan Match Meat on any menu item

DC-Area Event Highlights
MONDAY, April 22: Mix & Mingle Kick-off Event
- Location: B Spot Juice Bar, Art Gallery, & Tea House at 1123 Pennsylvania Ave SE, Washington, DC
- Time: 6pm to 10pm
- Description: Join Compassion Over Killing and Dr. Ruby Lathon at the B Spot for a free VegWeek kickoff event. Vegan hors d’oeuvres buffet, smoothies, specialty drinks, speakers, prize drawings, and more! Cash bar.
TUESDAY, APRIL 23: Vegucated Screening
- Location: Bloombars at 3222 11th St NW, Washington, DC
- Time: 7pm to 9pm
- Description: Join Compassion Over Killing at Bloombars for a screening of the documentary Vegucated. Part sociological experiment and part adventure comedy, Vegucated follows three meat- and cheese-loving New Yorkers who agree to adopt a vegan diet for six weeks. The movie showcases the rapid and at times comedic evolution of three people who discover they can change the world one bite at a time. Everlasting Life Cafe will provide delicious vegan snacks. The screening will be followed by Q&A.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 24: All-Vegan Wine Down Wednesday
- Location: Whole Foods Market, Foggy Bottom at 2201 Eye St. NW, Washington, DC
- Time: 5pm to 7pm
- Description: Enjoy 5 wine and food pairings for just $5. All items will be vegan: Pita Chip Salad, Grilled Asparagus, Buffalo Tofu, Lentil Loaf, and Dessert!
THURSDAY, APRIL 25: Dinner at Sticky Fingers – Special VegWeek Menu
- Location: Sticky Fingers Sweets and Eats at 1370 Park Rd. NW, Washington, DC
- Time: 5:30pm to 8:30pm
- Description: Join Compassion Over Killing for dinner at Sticky Fingers! Specials will include a vegan Philly Cheese Steak and the VegWeek Burger. Sticky Fingers will donate a portion of the evening’s proceeds to support the work of Compassion Over Killing.
FRIDAY, APRIL 26: Brew and Bites
- Location: Whole Foods Market, Foggy Bottom at 2201 Eye St. NW, Washington, DC
- Time: 6pm to 8pm
- Description: Enjoy 5 beer and food pairings for $5. Some items on this coconut themed menu will be vegan: Coconut Rice, Ital Soup, Coconut Vegan Chicken, Coconut Fruit Salad, and Macaroons.
SATURDAY, APRIL 27: Vegan Samples at Whole Foods

SUNDAY, APRIL 28: Vegan Made Simple! Hands-On Cooking Class
