VegWeek in the DMV
VegWeek in the DMV
Written by: Amber McDonald Filed under: COK, Events, News
On Monday, our friends at Compassion Over Killing launched VegWeek, a week in which people are invited to pledge to choose vegetarian foods for the week of April 18-24. After signing up on the VegWeek website, participants will receive a starter pack with recipes and meal ideas, daily email tips…and lots of good karma.
And with good karma comes good rewards! Participants can indulge in restaurant specials
around town and, on Thursday, join Compassion Over Killing for a
VegWeek Celebration Party, featuring free vegan food donated by Roots
Market.
Compassion Over Killing was originally inspired to create VegWeek
in 2009, when it first launched Takoma VegWeek. The week-long
celebration was officially recognized by Mayoral Proclamation. The
newly expanded VegWeek encompasses Maryland, Virginia and the District.
Mayor Gray has also issued a Mayoral Proclamation in honor of VegWeek.
Numerous poltical leaders have joined the ranks of those participating.
Among them are Virginia Delegates Patrick Hope and David Englin, DC
Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner John Salatti and Executive Director
of the Montgomery County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association, Eric
Bernard. Join them now, by signing up here!
