Join Compassion Over Killing at our Los Angeles VegWeek kick-off party to find out how easy and fun vegetarian eating is! We'll have delicious vegan food from Clara's Cakes, Rawsheed's Dinner Club, Chef Tigre, Sun Power Natural Cafe, and the Veggie Grill! Plus there will be great prizes and special guest speakers. Assemblymember Pedro Nava

Assemblymember Pedro Nava represents California's district 35 just north of Los Angeles. He has shown a strong commitment to public safety, emergency preparedness and protecting the environment, earning one of the highest environmental protection voting records while he served on the California Coastal Commission. Assemblymember Nava also co-chairs the newly established California Animal Protection Caucus. Assemblymember Pedro Nava will be at the kick-off party giving one of the keynote addresses.

Assemblymember Ted Lieu

Assemblymember Ted W. Lieu represents the 53rd Assembly District, which includes Venice, parts of Los Angeles, Torrance, and Lomita. As an activist legislator, he has taken on special interests and successfully authored laws in the areas of the environment, education, health care, and more. Prior to his election to the California Assembly, Assemblymember Lieu served on the Torrance City Council and while on City Council, he worked with the Friends of Torrance Animals to improve the quality of animal control services and reduce the unnecessary euthanization of animals. Assemblymember Ted Lieu will be at the kick-off party giving one of the keynote addresses.

Chef Chloe Coscarelli

Chloe Coscarelli is an award-winning vegan chef, proving to the world that vegan food can be stylish, delicious, and easy! She recently won Food Network's Cupcake Wars competition with her dazzling vegan cupcakes. Chloe is a graduate of The Natural Gourmet Institute of Health and Culinary Arts NYC, the University of California, Berkeley, as well as Cornell University's Plant Based Nutrition Program by Dr. T. Colin Campbell (The China Study). Chef Chloe has also worked at Millennium Restaurant in San Francisco, Counter Organic Vegetarian Bistro in New York City, and Herbivore Restaurant in Berkeley. Chef Chloe Coscarelli will be at the Los Angeles VegWeek kick-off party demonstrating her tips and tricks for vegan desserts!

Erica Meier

Erica Meier is the executive director of Compassion Over Killing (COK), a national animal advocacy charity spearheading the effort to launch the first-ever Los Angeles VegWeek. Working to end animal abuse since 1995, COK exposes cruelty to farmed animals and promotes vegetarian eating as a way to build a kinder world. Before working at COK, Erica spent four years as an animal control officer in D.C., rescuing sick, injured, and homeless animals as well as enforcing animal protection laws.
